Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our DCP conversion service.

A Digital Cinema Package (DCP) is the standard format for distributing and projecting movies and other content in a digital cinema. It's like a digital version of a film reel.

Digital cinema projectors can't just display a simple image file like a JPEG. They are designed to play content from a DCP. Our service correctly packages your still image into this required format.

1 credit allows you to convert one still image into one complete DCP. This is a pay-as-you-go system with no subscriptions.

FLAT (1.85:1 aspect ratio) and SCOPE (2.39:1 aspect ratio) are the two most common screen shapes in cinemas. You should choose the one that matches the screen your slide will be projected on. If you are unsure, FLAT is generally a safer choice.

We accept most common image formats, including JPEG, PNG, TIFF, BMP, and WebP.

For best results, your image should match the container you select. For FLAT, use an image that is 1998x1080 pixels. For SCOPE, use an image that is 2048x858 pixels.

Our system will fit your image inside the selected container (FLAT or SCOPE) and add black bars (letterboxing or pillarboxing) to fill the empty space. The preview on the conversion page will show you exactly how it will look.

After downloading our .zip file, you must extract it. Copy the resulting folder (which contains several files) to the root directory of a USB drive that has been formatted as FAT32. This drive can then be ingested by the cinema's playback server.

Yes, as long as it is formatted correctly. For compatibility with most cinema servers, the drive should be formatted with either a FAT32 or ext2/ext3 file system.

No, your purchased credits do not expire. You can use them whenever you need them.

Absolutely. All payments are processed by Stripe, a certified PCI Service Provider Level 1. We do not store any of your credit card information on our servers.

Due to the nature of digital credits, we do not offer refunds on purchases. Please choose your credit package carefully.

The conversion process is very fast and usually takes less than a minute. You will be redirected to your dashboard with a download link as soon as it's complete.

In the rare event of a conversion failure, your credit will not be used. You can try the conversion again. If the problem persists, please contact our support team with the details of the error message.

Currently, our online service is optimized for creating DCPs from single still images only. Please contact us directly create@dcpwizard.com for a quote on longer form conversions (ads, trailer, features etc.)

No, the DCPs created by our service are not encrypted. This makes them universally compatible with any DCI-compliant cinema server without the need for a Key Delivery Message (KDM).

The still image in the DCP is set to a standard duration of 10 seconds. The cinema projectionist can typically loop this if a longer duration is required.

No, a DCP is a finalized package. If you need to make a change to the image, you will need to upload the new image and perform a new conversion, which will use another credit.

Our 4-credit bundle offers a significant discount over the single credit price. For larger volume needs, please get in touch with us via our contact page to discuss custom pricing.
